Data showing the 100 largest landowning families are based on descriptions of acreage and land type in The Land Report magazine. Representative amounts of acreage were subtracted from private timber and cropland/range to show this category, which is not a part of the USDA data.

These maple bunk beds make for a sleek boys’ room. Angela Mulder of Visbeen Architects says for this project, they worked with Scott Christopher Homes and planned for the bed from the project’s inception. They had simple cross bracing added above the ceiling level to accommodate the 300-pound weight of the beds. While four chunky chains carry the load from each corner, both beds are secured to the wall along their lengths, making them despite their appearance.
