In March 2009, Johnson says he and a few colleagues from the F.B.I. briefed Napolitano on their findings, theorizing that heightened stress because of the continuing financial crisis, coupled with the election of the first black president, created a “unique driver” for individual radicalization and antigovernment and white-supremacist recruitment. Military veterans, including those returning after multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, might be particularly susceptible candidates, they noted, a prediction based on a 2008 F.B.I. assessment that found 203 individuals with military experience who had joined white-supremacist groups since Sept. 11, 2001. It was a tiny number given the overall United States veteran population, which at the time was close to 24 million. It was also a small percentage of the thousands of white supremacists the F.B.I. estimated were active. But the “prestige” that those with military or tactical skills held within white-supremacist groups made their influence much greater, the F.B.I. argued.

The project culminates in a TEDx Talk. They share what they’ve learned about their issues, talk about the forms of action they’ve already taken toward making a difference, and get see themselves in the vein of the activist leaders we’ve studied in preparation for this, like Bryan Stevenson, Malala Yousafzai and Emma Gonzalez.

Level 2 charging gets you about 25 miles of charge per hour, so you can get back to fully juiced overnight. This was the variety of charging that we used, plugging the Bolt into a Level 2 ChargePoint station near my house. This worked well, but we had to leave the Bolt parked for long stretches, so many potential owners will want to explore the home setup.

With a little more perspective, I’d even enjoyed All Star Wrestling’s show more than I thought I would. The downside to stainless fasteners is the potential for thread galling if you’re not careful. Although stainless is generally thought of as non-magnetic, not all of it is. Stainless steel fasteners are generally 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel, however, that can vary too. Stainless 316 exhibits excellent anti-corrosion properties. Stainless 410 is a harder steel, but not as corrosion resistant as 316. Which type you choose depends on the application and what you need most. It is important to remember harder isn’t always better. Harder can translate to more brittle depending upon the alloy. Be very mindful of the alloy when you’re shopping bolts and other fasteners.
